Academic Writing

Academic writing follows conventions designed to make arguments verifiable and contestable: clear thesis statements, structured evidence, precise vocabulary, passive voice where appropriate, and citation of sources. These conventions exist to separate the argument from the arguer — a well-formed academic claim stands or falls on evidence and logic, not on the author's authority or rhetorical skill.
