Frequently Asked Questions

Will upscaling a photo make it look blurry?
The tool uses high-quality bicubic interpolation to preserve edges and detail. A 2x upscale usually works well for most photos. At 4x, some softening is normal — results are typically stronger when the source photo is already reasonably sharp.
What photo formats are supported?
You can upload JPG, PNG, and WebP photos. The upscaled result is always downloaded as a lossless PNG to preserve maximum quality. You can then convert it to JPG using our Image Converter if needed.
Can I upscale photos for large-format printing?
Yes. A 2000x3000 photo upscaled at 2x becomes 4000x6000, which is usually enough for a 20x30 inch print at 200 DPI. For clearer results, start with the highest-resolution original you have.
Is there a maximum photo size I can upscale?
There is no hard limit, but very large photos (above 4000x4000 pixels) at 4x may be slow or cause memory issues on some devices. For large files, try 2x first. Everything runs in your browser, so performance depends on your device.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Processing happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Images are not uploaded to our servers during upscaling.
