Fix Low Resolution Images

Restore blurry, pixelated, and small images by upscaling them to a usable resolution

Upscale Image — Free

Use Cases

Old Digital Photos

Photos from early digital cameras (1-3 megapixels) look tiny on modern screens. Upscale them to a viewable resolution for sharing, printing, or preserving family memories.

Small Thumbnails & Avatars

Downloaded a small thumbnail or profile picture that is too tiny to use? Upscale it to a practical size for presentations, documents, or design projects.

Screenshots & Screen Captures

Fix low-resolution screenshots from older devices or compressed messaging apps. Enlarge them for documentation, bug reports, or content creation.

How It Works

1

Upload Your Image

Drop any JPG, PNG, or WebP file into the tool.

2

Choose 2x or 4x

Select your scale factor. 2x doubles dimensions, 4x quadruples them.

3

Download Upscaled PNG

Get your enlarged image as a lossless PNG, ready to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this tool actually fix blurry images?
The tool enlarges images using high-quality interpolation, which makes small images bigger without adding harsh pixelation. It smooths edges and produces a cleaner result than simple scaling. However, it cannot recover detail that was never captured — a very blurry source will become a larger, slightly smoother version.
What resolution counts as "low resolution"?
Generally, images under 500x500 pixels are considered low resolution for modern use. Images under 200x200 are very low resolution. The upscaler is most effective on images that are at least 100x100 pixels — extremely tiny images (under 50x50) will not produce usable results.
Should I use 2x or 4x for a low-resolution image?
Start with 2x. If the result is still too small, try 4x. For a 200x200 image, 2x gives you 400x400 (decent for web) and 4x gives 800x800 (good for most uses). The smaller the source, the more noticeable the softening at higher scale factors.
Will upscaling fix JPEG compression artifacts?
Upscaling does not remove compression artifacts, but the interpolation process can make them less harsh by smoothing blocky regions. Results are usually stronger when you start with the least-compressed version of the image you can find.
How does this compare with Photoshop for fixing low-res images?
For quick, free upscaling without installing software, this tool is a practical option. It uses the same bicubic interpolation algorithm available in Photoshop. For advanced restoration (denoising, deblurring, detail hallucination), dedicated AI super-resolution tools in Photoshop or Topaz may produce stronger results on very low-quality sources.
