Frequently Asked Questions

What quality setting does "high quality" use?
95% JPG quality at 300 DPI by default. You can push to 100% JPG quality (nearly lossless) at 600 DPI for archival work, with larger file sizes in trade.
Can I get lossless images instead?
JPG is inherently lossy. For lossless output, use our PDF-to-PNG tool, or convert to JPG at 100% quality. PNG gives perfect fidelity but is usually 2-5x larger than high-quality JPG.
Does the PDF source quality matter?
Yes. A PDF made from vector text and graphics gives sharp output at any DPI. A PDF containing low-resolution embedded images cannot be upscaled beyond the source resolution without blurring.
How big will the JPGs be?
95% quality 300 DPI JPG of an A4 page is roughly 2-4 MB depending on content density. Plain text pages compress smaller; pages dense with photos are larger.
Can I keep the original color profile?
The converter respects embedded ICC profiles when present. For precise color-matched print workflows, verify the ICC profile in your PDF before conversion; Adobe Acrobat and Preview both expose this under document properties.
