Cluely is a desktop application that provides real-time AI coaching during live video calls on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and similar platforms. It runs as an invisible overlay on the user's screen, listening to conversations via speech-to-text transcription and using OCR to read on-screen content, then feeding this context to large language models to generate suggested responses and talking points visible only to the user.

The application supports custom playbooks where users can upload PDFs, study guides, company handbooks, or sales scripts to create a personalized knowledge base. CRM integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, and Zoho CRM allow the tool to pull relevant customer data during sales calls. All plans include unlimited real-time meeting notetaking and file uploads.

Cluely originated as 'Interview Coder,' a tool created by co-founder Chungin 'Roy' Lee. After raising $5.3 million in venture funding, the company rebranded and expanded its positioning toward sales enablement and professional meeting support. The platform is available for Windows and macOS.

The tool has faced significant controversy including a data breach in mid-2025 that exposed data from over 83,000 users, and ongoing debates about the ethics and legality of covert AI assistance during professional interactions. Users report 5-10 second latency between questions and AI suggestions, and recording without consent may violate wiretapping laws in many jurisdictions.
