CrewAI

Multi-agent orchestration framework with role-based collaboration

Open Source ⚙️ Agents & Automation Launched December 2023 API Available Updated March 2026

What is CrewAI?

CrewAI is an open-source framework for orchestrating multiple AI agents that collaborate on complex tasks through role-based teamwork. With 25,000+ GitHub stars, it provides a simple yet powerful abstraction where each agent is defined by a role, goal, backstory, and set of tools — then assigned tasks within a crew that executes sequentially or hierarchically.

The framework supports multiple process types: sequential (agents work in order), hierarchical (a manager agent delegates), and consensual (agents discuss and agree). Agents can use custom tools, share memory, and delegate tasks to each other. CrewAI integrates with LangChain tools and supports any LLM provider.

CrewAI Enterprise adds a visual builder, deployment infrastructure, monitoring, and team management for production use cases. The platform is particularly strong for workflows where different expertise domains need to collaborate — research teams, content pipelines, analysis workflows, and decision-making processes.
