GPTZero

GPTZero is the most widely adopted AI content detection platform, purpose-built to identify text generated by ChatGPT, GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, LLaMA, and other large language models. Founded by Princeton student Edward Tian in January 2023, it has become the de facto standard for academic integrity, used by over 4 million educators and institutions worldwide.

The detection engine analyzes text across two key dimensions: perplexity (how surprising the language choices are — AI text tends to be more predictable) and burstiness (the variation in sentence complexity — human writing naturally alternates between simple and complex structures while AI tends to be more uniform). GPTZero provides both an overall AI probability score and sentence-level highlighting showing which specific passages are likely AI-generated.
