Topaz Labs is a desktop AI software suite for professional-grade image and video enhancement. The company's modular product line includes Topaz Photo AI for still images, Topaz Video for footage, and Topaz Gigapixel for extreme enlargements, along with cloud-based tools Bloom (creative image upscaling) and Astra (creative video upscaling). Topaz Video can upscale footage from standard definition to 4K, 8K, and up to 16K resolution while adding detail and clarity. The Starlight model uses diffusion-based AI to restore extremely degraded footage like VHS and 360p video. AI Frame Synthesis converts frame rates (up to 120fps) and creates smooth slow-motion. Generative Face Recovery specifically targets and restores facial details in low-resolution or blurry footage. Advanced stabilization fixes shaky footage and rolling shutter without heavy cropping.

Topaz Photo AI handles image upscaling, noise reduction, sharpening, and includes a healing brush tool. Gigapixel can enlarge low-resolution images up to 6x for print. All desktop processing happens locally — files never leave the user's computer, making it suitable for confidential material. Cloud-based options (Bloom, Astra) offer faster processing using remote GPUs at additional cost.

In September 2025, Topaz switched from perpetual licenses to subscription-only pricing. Individual apps start at $25/month (Video) and $58/month (Photo). The Desktop Collection (Photo + Video + Gigapixel) costs $349/year. Topaz Studio including cloud tools is $399/year. Hardware requirements are significant — an RTX 3080+ GPU or Apple Silicon is recommended for optimal performance.
