FAQ

What format conversions are supported?
You can convert between JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF. Upload any of these formats (or multiple at once) and choose your desired output format.
Can I convert multiple images at once?
Yes. Select or drag-and-drop up to 50 images. All are converted in one batch with a results table showing each file's before/after size. Use "Download All" to save them all at once.
What is the Format Comparison feature?
After uploading, you can compare all output formats side by side. The tool converts your image to every format simultaneously and shows the resulting file size for each, so you can pick the smallest or most appropriate one.
Will converting to WebP or AVIF reduce file size?
Usually yes. WebP typically produces 25-35% smaller files than JPEG. AVIF can be 30-50% smaller than JPEG at similar quality, though encoding is slower and browser support varies.
When should I use PNG vs JPEG?
Use PNG for images that need transparency or pixel-perfect accuracy (logos, screenshots, graphics). Use JPEG for photographs where smaller file size matters more than perfect accuracy.
Does the quality slider affect file size?
Yes. For lossy formats (JPEG, WebP, AVIF), lowering quality significantly reduces file size. The slider shows a live size estimate so you can find the sweet spot before converting.
Is my image data private?
Yes. All conversion happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device — nothing is uploaded to any server.
Can I convert images on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in all modern mobile browsers including Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android. AVIF encoding requires a newer browser version — if unsupported, the tool will show "Not supported" in Compare All mode.
Does format conversion change image dimensions?
No. Converting between formats preserves the original width and height. If you also need to change dimensions, use our Image Resizer before or after converting.
How does this compare to CloudConvert or Convertio?
Cloud-based converters upload your files to their servers. Our tool processes everything locally in your browser — no upload wait, no file size limits, no daily caps, and full privacy.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPEG?
JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent areas are filled with white automatically. To preserve transparency, use PNG or WebP output.
Can I convert and compress at the same time?
Yes. The quality slider controls lossy compression for JPEG, WebP, and AVIF. Lower quality means smaller files. For maximum compression, convert to WebP or AVIF and lower the quality slider. You can also run the result through our Image Compressor for finer control.
Which browsers support AVIF?
Chrome 85+, Firefox 93+, and Safari 16.4+ support AVIF. Older browsers will fail to encode AVIF — the Compare All view will show "Not supported" for that format.

Coda One's Image Converter lets you batch convert between JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF formats instantly. Compare all formats side by side to find the smallest file size. WebP offers 25-35% smaller files than JPEG; AVIF can save 30-50%. Adjust quality with a live size preview. All processing happens in your browser — images are never uploaded.
